There are so many fanfictions out there that explore the "what if," idea of Jareth and Sarah having a child. And it seems to me that most of them end up being Mary-Sueish copies of Sarah (no offense intended, of course. Just posting my observations).

Thus I wanted to play with the idea of Sarah's daughter being so completely otherworldly that there really was no doubt or confusion over her belonging to another plane of existence.

So that even with a glamour covering her features, the inherent glow of her spirit would show through one way or another. Causing people to stop and stare en mass as they give her a double take. Swearing, at least to themselves, that that teenager MUST have had pointed ears a few seconds ago. Or that those fingers HAD to have been dancing with light...or was that just a trick of the sun?

As for the girl herself ("Leyla?" "Lorelai?" "Ladannon?"), she and her mother have an understanding that certain things are to be spoken of, and certain things are not (after all, words have power and they aren't to be used lightly). Her mother doesn't leave her in the dark as to her own single parent state, nor treat her like a child. And she knows that one day she will have all the answers she's seeking, but that day isn't yet. And should she find abilities within herself that are almost magical, then they are to be cherished, if not spoken of.

And should, say, a book of spells or fairy tales find its way into her room, who's to say that it came from her mother? Perhaps all is just a happy coincidence...

In the meanwhile she's more than satisfied with her position of guitarist in a garage band (a band whose performances her mother always attends), writing lyrics but never singing (because heaven knows her voice is horrible and she'd rather be backup any day). And her fashion sense is eclectic at its best and catastrophic at its worst, hair constantly dyed any other color than her natural platinum blonde.

This picture itself is well down the timeline, of course, as she's more conservatively gowned for the occasion of the fey version of a "Coming Out Ball." One which her father has no idea she's attending, but which her mother has been planning to show up at for years.

"The time has come, the Walrus said..."

Sarah and Jareth belong to Connely, Bowie, and Henson.

I can say I'm glad she has weaknesses as well as strengths.
